First EncyclopaediaDenis Diderot, with his encyclopedia was the first to collect the knowledge, that the Age of Reason brought about, in a series of volumes which came out periodically. His encyclopedia helped the spread of knowledge throughout Europe.
There were made 28 volumes published in 1751. D’alembert (mathematician ) helped Diderot with his studies. The creation of the encyclopedia increased reading. Subscriptions to the encyclopedias all over western europe, specifically in france, where subscriptions exceeded the centenary. |
